Excerpt from Six Months in Kansas
The authoress went to Kansas in September, 1855, and returned to Massachusetts in April, 1856. During her absence she wrote the follow ing letters to her mother, and, at the suggestion of her friends, they are here presented to the public, with but few alterations. She makes no pretensions to literary excellence, but asks the reader to remember the disadvantages under which these letters were written. The narrative is authentic.
