The air of this county is in general very'good; except in the northern part, where it is rendered lefswholefome than many other counties, by the damps and fogs which arife from the fiagnating waters of the fens and meets with which it abounds. The foil is in general very fertile. In the hilly parts and dry lands it yields great crops of corn, and ards excellent paiture for (beep; and the meadows in the low lands are exceeding rich, feeding abundance of fine cattle, not only for flaughter, but for the dairy and the cheefe made at Stilton, a village near Yaxley, known by the name of Stilton cheefe, is ufually {tiled the Par mcfan of England. The inhabitants are well iup plied with great plenty of water-fowl, as well as fiih, and turf for nring, which 139: is a very ufe ful commodity, as both wood and coals are fcarce. Moi't of the plants that grow wild in Cambridge filire are to be found in this county.
