1. As in the natural world wisdom and intelligence are among the signs of life in an intelligent being, so in the spiritual world a spiritual understanding follows on the possession of spiritual life. As the Divine Spirit gives life, so He inspires wisdom. Indeed all spiritual gifts flow equally from the same Spirit. St. Paul says that "there are diversities of gifts, hut the same Spirit," who gives to one the word of wisdom, to another the word of knowledge, to another faith, to another miracles and gifts of healing, to another prophecy, to another divers kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. So he describes the influence of that one and the self-same Spirit on the early disciples in the Church of Corinth.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book is an exploration of the theory of spiritual inspiration as it pertains to the Bible. The author traces the history of the subject, from the early Jewish and Christian beliefs in verbal inspiration to the more modern views that see inspiration as a more gradual and nuanced process. The author argues that there is a human element as well as a divine element in the Bible, and that the two are inextricably intertwined. The book also discusses the relationship between inspiration and miracles, and argues that the two are not necessarily connected. The author concludes by stating that the Bible is an infallible depository of religious truth, but that it is not a scientific textbook, and should not be treated as such.
