Excerpt from Structural Geology
Cal field work originated and developed many of the ideas expressed in this book. For some years the structural discussion in Van Hise's Principles of North American pre-cambrian Geology 1 has been widely used by American teachers of structural geology. The writer had the privilege of association with Dr. Van Hise in the development of that work, and the present volume is partly a development and revision of the ideas of that paper.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a comprehensive exploration into the fundamental processes that shape the Earth's crust, with a particular focus on the mechanics of rock deformation. The author begins by introducing the concepts of fracture and flow in rocks, providing a detailed examination of the conditions that favor each type of deformation. The discussion delves into the role of stress, temperature, moisture content, and rock composition in determining the Earth's structural response to tectonic forces. The author also explores the various types of structures and landforms that result from rock deformation, including folds, faults, and mountains, and highlights the influence of these structures on the planet's geological history and landscape evolution. This book is a valuable resource for geologists and students seeking a deeper understanding of the mechanisms that drive the Earth's dynamic surface processes and shape its ever-changing physical features.
