Excerpt from Counterfeit Miracles
When our Lord came down to earth He drew heaven with Him. The signs which accompanied His ministry were but the trailing clouds of glory which He brought from heaven, which is His home. The number of the mir acles which He wrought may easily be underrated. It has been said that in effect He banished disease and death from Palestine for the three years of His ministry. If this is exaggeration it is pardonable exaggeration. Wherever He went, He brought a blessing: One hem but of the garment that He wore Could medicine whole countries of their pain; One touch of that pale hand could life restore.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes the cessation of the miraculous gifts (charismata) that accompanied the first Christian communities after the death of the apostles. Focusing on early Christian writings, the book argues against the common belief that these charismata lasted for several centuries after the Apostolic Age. Challenging the idea that these gifts gradually faded, it demonstrates that they ceased abruptly with the apostles, as they were exclusively tied to their mission of establishing the Christian Church. Delving into the origins and functions of these miraculous manifestations, the text explores their multifaceted nature and their significance as credentials of the apostles' authority. Ultimately, the book sheds light on the relationship between miracles and revelation, emphasizing that the completion of divine revelation in Christ marked the end of the age of miracles.
