The author argues for a post-exilic origin for much of the Psalter in light of new critical understandings of the period and related texts. This position allows the author to propose a new interpretation of the Psalter in light of the religious context of post-exilic Judaism and to challenge traditional scholarly consensus on its development. This work re-examines the historical background of Psalms and reevaluates the significance and meaning of this body of scripture.
