Excerpt from Hearings Before the Committee on the Library: House of Representatives, on H. R. 13045
My dear sir: I have read your speech Lincoln highway, with a great deal of inter est. Speaking for the old vets (i am National G. A. R. Committeeman for Georgia), we are all heartily in favor of it, instead of a stone pile down on the Potomac, and I have so written my Congressman, Tom Bell, Ninth congressional district of Georgia.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a compelling argument for the construction of a Lincoln Memorial Highway between Washington, D.C., and the Gettysburg battlefield. The author contends that the highway would be a more fitting tribute to the legacy of Abraham Lincoln than the construction of a static monument, as it would be accessible, offer utility, and inspire ongoing learning from history. The book draws on expert insights, historical accounts, and surveys of relevant organizations to advocate for the Lincoln Memorial Highway project, while comparing it to existing memorials. By incorporating a highway into the design, the author and contributors illustrate how monuments can be both commemorative and beneficial to the public.
