Excerpt from The Fragment: Or, Letters Poems
IN compiling the Memoirs of my Life and some other matter which'l added to that volume, a considerable part of the following work was thrown aside. Subsequently, I collected it, and with some little addition since written, I un scrupulously leave them before a generous pub lic, not for any superior amount of worth the)r may be supposed to contain; yet, unhesitatingly, believing that what is sown in faith from an hon est heart, will be reaped in gladne'ss.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book is a compilation of the author's memoirs and other writings that did not make it into a previous book volume. The author includes a section on her views of women and temperance, having observed the lack of political will in dealing with alcohol abuse, and the suffering that it causes women and families, particularly in her own life, drawing on personal experience to advocate for women's voices in public life. The author also reflects on the role of social status in shaping virtue, arguing against the vanity and superficiality with which women are forced to comply, often at the expense of more substantive qualities. Throughout the book, the author draws on religious themes to explore topics of motherhood, the nature of good and evil, and the pursuit of happiness in the face of personal adversity. The book includes writings from the author's youth to her middle age and chronicles her growth as a writer and thinker.
