Excerpt from Eating the Bread of Life: A Study of John Vi; 30, Etc; And Its Relation to the Lord's Supper
But we, alas! Have lived to see a clamouring after, and an actual reintroduction of, the principle of Sacerdotalism, together with the medieval theory of the real presence' of our Lord's human Body locally in or with the elements of bread and wine; and therefore it behoves those who have any zeal for the truth of God, to take up arms once more against what they firmly believe to be not only unscriptural, but most deadly error.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book focuses on a segment of the sixth chapter of the Gospel of John, in which Jesus speaks about the bread of life. The author takes a close look at the language used in this passage to argue that Jesus is speaking metaphorically about believing in him as the way to attain eternal life. The author argues that the language of eating and drinking is used figuratively throughout the passage to describe the spiritual act of believing in Jesus. The author examines similar language from other parts of the Gospel of John and comes to the conclusion that Jesus consistently uses figurative language to describe spiritual truths. This book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in understanding the deeper meaning of Jesus' teachings on eternal life.
