Bibli ographies, though helpful, need not be repeated at this time when the excellent bibliography recently prepared by Professor Munro is still up to date. The reader or student who would go more minutely into any of the topics discussed or touched upon in this book is advised to turn to Professor Munro's Bibliography of Municipal Government for a very complete list of references. De tailed and extensive statistics are likewise quite as likely to repel as to attract, and have been eliminated as far as possible for the purpose of making the work more readable. Excellent statistical information on American cities is readily available in the publications of the United States Census Bureau.
