Excerpt from Gunshot Injuries of Bones
This book has been written amidst the hurry and stress of active military service. Indeed the time necessary for its writing might never have been found, but for the leisure of a sea voyage necessitated by my transference to the Eastern theatre of war. Although the time has not yet come for the formula tion of final conclusions about war wounds, it is fully ripe for the emphasis of certain general principles and as regards bone injuries, I have endeavoured to set these forth in broad outline which I trust will be of use to others.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book establishes a new system for treating severe open gunshot injuries of the limbs, which are common in times of war. Gunshot injuries often result in an infected, compound fracture, with the wound and fracture requiring distinct treatments. The author argues that the most effective treatment is based on thorough wound cleansing, proper drainage, optimal extension force, and correct angulation of the injured bone. Case studies prove that this method can heal gunshot injuries quickly and prevent severe complications. The text emphasizes the importance of early intervention to minimize infection, eliminate the need for secondary surgeries, and restore function. By focusing on the most pressing problem in the treatment of bone injuries during wartime, this book provides invaluable insights for orthopedic surgeons and medical professionals.
