Excerpt from The Picture Completion Test
Various attempts have been made to establish such a working basis with different sets of tests, but in most cases the investigators seem to have lost sight of their end in the desire to put their material to practical use. This very fact has resulted in many false conclusions and wrong judgments. No more striking example could be found than that of the binet-simon scale, itself. In the first place, the separate tests were not tried out with large enough groups of children, and, as a result, many were misplaced. In the second place, lack of a standard method of procedure has led to diffi culty in the comparison of results of different workers.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book introduces an empirical method of picture completion and norms for 1538 presumably normal individuals. Applicable in clinical settings, especially for children, it evaluates performance through a series of 50 blocks that can be selected to complete 10 singular activities. Authors and researchers provide a list of scores for moves made by the subjects tested. The central idea is that the selection and placement of the blocks, which each contain pictures, can be observed and scored to provide insight into mental abilities and cognitive development. The scoring method allows for easy comparison of responses to determine abnormalities that may indicate a developmental issue. This book serves as a valuable tool for clinicians seeking an effective and objective test to evaluate childrenâs mental abilities.
