To harden the bone and muscle, a limited amount of oat feed should be used, and a more liberal amount of green sprouts, wheat bran and clover or alfalfa leaves, given during the day. The last feeding in the afternoon should consist of more solid food such as finely ground grain; and whole Wheat, buckwheat, or clipped oats may be given at night after the chickens are a week or two old.
