These Lectures on-the Comparative Anatomy of the Placenta were delivered in the Theatre of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, on the l4th, 15th and l6th June, 1875. They were illustrated by numerous preparations both macroscopic and microscopic, and by many enlarged coloured diagrams. The diagrams were enlarged from the preparations by my assistant Mr A. H. Young.. The figures from the microscopic preparations, which are here reproduced on wood, are from drawings kindly made by that gentleman; whilst the figures in the lithographic plates are, with two exceptions.
