Excerpt from Quantitative Relations Between Fishing Mortality, Spawning Stress Mortality and Biomass Growth Rate (Computed With Numerical Model Fishmo)
The effects of fishing on a given species biomass have been quantitatively evaluated. A constant recruitment is assumed in this study, but the evaluation can be computed on any known age distribution of exploitable biomass. Fishing mortality is assumed to be constant with age equal fraction of fish is removed from each fully recruited year class); however, spawning stress mortality (often called senescent mortality) increases with age.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. Explore the intricate relationship between fishing practices and marine ecosystems in this insightful scientific study. The author meticulously examines how fishing impacts fish populations, analyzing the effects on biomass growth rates, spawning dynamics, and age structure. Through detailed numerical modeling, the book quantifies the changes in fish population characteristics under varying levels of fishing intensity, providing a deeper understanding of the ecological consequences of different fishing practices. By examining two distinct fish species, the author demonstrates the significance of species-specific data in fisheries management. Ultimately, this book highlights the importance of considering the delicate balance between fishing and marine biodiversity, offering valuable insights for sustainable fisheries practices that preserve the health and resilience of our oceans.
