Excerpt from Practical Physics, Vol. 1: A Laboratory Manual Fro Colleges and Technical Schools
The system which has been used with great satisfaction by the authors in the assignment of laboratory exercises is described on page 2. The authors believe that one of the most important aspects of laboratory work in physics is that it gives to the stu dent a series of more or less distinctly theoretical problems based upon experimental data obtained by themselves, and in accordance with this idea, the authors believe that a student should be required to work up his laboratory reports outside of the labora tory as specified on page 3.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book introduces readers to the theory and practice of physical laboratory work and sets forth a series of definite exercises, from simple experiments to those requiring a high degree of accuracy. The author believes that a laboratory course should accompany and supplement classroom work, and that students should be required to work out their experimental data and reports outside of the laboratory sessions for optimal learning. The experiments outline the determination of probable error, which is an essential element of the scientific method that allows for the elimination of erratic errors and a more accurate estimate of the true value of a measured quantity. The book is positioned firmly within the scientific method and discusses both systematic and erratic errors and how to account for them. It also covers a variety of laboratory equipment including the use and principles behind the vernier, micrometer screw, and the balance. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 9781332332847_0
