Roger having pafled his firft years under the care of his parents, was adopted into the family of Antony [mug/fold, who maintained him, and committed his education, with that of his own fons, to the care of one Bond, a domellick tutor. He very early difcovei'ed an unufual fondnefs for literature by an eager peiufal of Eng/171) books, and having palled happily through the fcholaftick rudiments, was put, in 1530, by his patron m'rzgfio/d, to St. Yob/z's college in Cambridge.
