Excerpt from The Old Syriac Element in the Text of Codex Bezae
It is, I trust, from no waywardness or ingratitude to others that I must claim to be an independent worker in this field. Few probably, who have reviewed the evidence with any care, would hold that the works on Codex Bezae hitherto published have foreclosed further discussion of the questions suggested by its eccentricities.
It is due to two of my immediate predecessors in the study of this ms. That I should briefly allude to their work.

Excerpt from The Old Syriac Element in the Text of Codex Bezae
The following Essay contains a fresh investigation into the character of the text contained by the Cambridge Codex, Codex Bezae (Cod. D), and, since I have chosen the Book of the Acts for detailed examination, to a large extent into that contained by the Oxford Codex, Codex Laudianus (Cod. E).

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book challenges the long-held theory that the Western text of the New Testament originated in the West, offering new evidence that it emerged in Antioch, the Greek-speaking metropolis of the East. The author examines variations in the Greek text of the New Testament's book of Acts contained in the Codex Bezae (also known as Codex D), arguing that these can be explained by the assimilation of that Greek text to a Syriac text. The theory is supported by other evidence, including readings in the Latin version, citations of the New Testament found in early Christian writers, and an analysis of interpolations in the Codex Bezae. One of the implications of this reassessment is that this Western text must be much earlier than previously assumed, with important ramifications for the study of New Testament history.
