Von nun an wird eine Vergleichung des grofsen mittelhochdeutschen Dichters mit seinem französischen Vorgänger nicht mehr vergeblich und unfruchtbar sein, da leicht nachzuweisen ist, dafs die Fassung, wie sie uns in der kritischen Ausgabe vorliegt, der Vorlage welche Landgraf Hermann Wolfram zur Bearbeitung übergeben hat, sehr nahe kommt. Es wird jetzt ein Leichtes sein, den Dichter in seiner Werkstatt zu belauschen; man wird seinen ausgebildeten Geschmack nach der Art beurteilen können, wie er den ziemlich rohen Block des Stoffes künstlerisch bearbeitet und sinnig zu einem neuen Meister werk umgeschafl'en hat. Gar vieles, Gutes und Schlechtes, was man dem deutschen Dichter zuschrieb, wird auf Rech nung der ursprünglichen Fassung zu setzen sein.
