Partie. Du 10 novembre 1756 au 3 juillet 1757. Les faits les plus intéressants de cette période sont quelques petites expéditions d'hiver contre les Anglais, et surtout, en décembre 1756, janvier et mai 1757, les conseils sans fin tenus avec les sauvages des différentes nations. Les récits de ces conseils sont des plus curieux et abondent en traits de moeurs pris sur le vif. Mont calm d'ailleurs ne néglige jamais, lorsqu'il en trouve l'occasion, de noter ce qui lui paraît intéressant sur les moeurs, la langue et les usages des diverses nations sauvages.
