Excerpt from Probabilismus Vindicatus
Quo successu, lector iudicet.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes ethical and moral systems with a particular focus on probabilism, the doctrine that an action is permissible if there is a solid argument, although less probable, in favor of its legality. The author examines historical debates on the subject particularly the later debates between probabilism and anti-probabilism proponents within the Catholic Church. It begins with a historical overview of the evolution of moral thought. Paying particular attention to the arguments of L. Wouters and Fr. Ter Haar, the author examines the main arguments in favor of and against probabilism. It considers the impact of St. Alphonsus's ideas on the controversy and shows how arguments in favor of probabilism have been distorted. The book includes an examination of the relationship between probabilism and divine providence, and the author concludes that insights gained through a consideration of probabilism are of great significance for our understanding of morality and our relationship to the divine.
