Les grandes cit�s sont les monast�res dont les moines gouvernent, rendent la justice, l�vent l'imp�t, impriment les livres, font le commerce, la banque et la guerre. Notre si�cle, au Tibet, est encore un tr�s vieux moyen �ge, mais son peuple pense et parle comme l'on faisait au temps f�odal d'hom�re. Apr�s le Tibet, la Chine semble banale, d'une organisation trop pareille � la n�tre. Aussi re tourne - t-ou chez ce peuple dont l'inconnu attire, qui ignore le reste de la terre, qui ne peuplerait pas une ville comme Paris et d�fend par son inertie un pays grand comme quatre fois la France.
