Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book is a timely and significant contribution to the study of copyhold tenure, a fascinating subject with enduring relevance. The author traces the origins of copyhold back to the feudal era, and demonstrates how this unique form of land ownership evolved over centuries, shaped by the interplay of legal, social, and economic forces. The book explores the complex relationship between copyholders and their lords, examining the rights, obligations, and customs that governed their interactions. It also provides a comprehensive analysis of the legal framework surrounding copyhold tenure, including the process of enfranchisement and the various methods by which copyhold estates could be transferred or inherited. The author's meticulous research and clear prose make this book an invaluable resource for scholars, legal practitioners, and anyone interested in the history of landownership in England. It sheds new light on a subject that has long been neglected, and offers a fresh perspective on the social and economic dynamics of pre-industrial England.
