Excerpt from A Direct and General Method of Finding the Approximate Values of the Real Roots of Numerical Equations to Any Degree of Accuracy
Several years since I was extracting the square and cube roots of numbers by the principles of inequalities (see Nicholson's Elementary Algebra, pp. 212 and the idea occurred to me that the same principles might be advantageously applied to the solution of numerical equations. That idea, though vague in its inception, is the germ of the present production.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a revolutionary method for finding the approximate values of the real roots of numerical equations with any desired degree of accuracy. The method, developed by the author, is a generalization of Newton's method and is applicable to equations of any degree. It provides a direct and absolute solution to a problem that has long eluded mathematicians. The book provides detailed explanations of the method, along with numerous examples to illustrate its application. It also discusses the historical context of the problem and the significance of the author's solution. Overall, this book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in numerical analysis, and its insights will be of great significance to mathematicians, scientists, and engineers. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 9781332763566_0
