The contents then of this volume are Frag ments which have been translated from foreign languages into Greek; or have been quoted or transcribed by Greeks from foreign authors; or have been written in the Greek language by foreigners who have had access to the archives of their own respective countries. Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a fascinating collection of ancient fragments from various civilizations, offering a glimpse into the lost histories and mythologies of Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Egypt, Phoenicia, Tyre, and Carthage. These fragments, translated into Greek or quoted by Greek authors, provide valuable insights into the beliefs and narratives of these once-powerful empires. The author meticulously curates and analyzes these fragments, drawing connections between different cultures and shedding light on the shared origins of ancient myths. From the Phoenician cosmogony of Sanchoniatho to the Chaldaean accounts of Berossus and the Egyptian chronicles of Manetho, the book delves into creation stories, genealogies of gods and heroes, and accounts of cataclysmic events like the Great Flood. Through these fragments, we encounter intriguing parallels between ancient mythologies and biblical narratives, suggesting a common thread running through humanity's earliest attempts to understand the world and its origins. The book explores the complex interplay between religion, philosophy, and history, revealing how these realms intertwined in the ancient world. Ultimately, this collection of ancient fragments serves as a testament to the enduring power of storytelling and the importance of preserving the wisdom and knowledge of past civilizations. By piecing together these fragments, we gain a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of human history and the profound influence of ancient cultures on our own. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 9781332786411_0
