Excerpt from The Link, Vol. 15: A Program Magazine for Armed Forces Personnel; June 1957
SO Butch had the run Of the ship with the exception of the admiral's quarters. The crew did their best to conceal him from the admiral as much as was possible. Since Butch seemed to have a penchant for sitting on the hatch cover most of the time, they did not worry too much about his getting in the admiral's way.
On the day they were to reach the city where Butch was to be put Off he made his Way to the hatch and jumped to the cover. But the cover wasn't there. The men had been loading, and the cover had not been replaced.
