Excerpt from The Chaplain, Vol. 3: A Trade Journal for Protestant Chaplains; March, 1946
The committee which has been authorized to select a Director has requested Dr. Hazen to serve until such time as a permanent successor to Bishop Lee is found. Having for years been a member of the General Commission and having long served upon its Executive Committee, Dr. Hazen is familiar with the character of service that the General Com mission seeks to offer. He has accepted the position with some reluctance due to other pressing official duties. This does not mean, however, that he will in the slightest degree allow the interests of the General Com mission to be neglected. Since he is a trained executive and an advocate of co-operation among all religious bodies, he is in complete sympathy with all that the General Commission seeks to accomplish. He has the confidence of the entire membership as he enters upon this work.
