Excerpt from Fees Collected Under the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934: Hearing Before the Subcommittee on Securities of the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, United States Senate, One Hundred Sixth Congress
I absolutely recognize the seriousness and the magnitude of this issue, and I have to say that I endorse the observations made in your opening statements.
Wherever possible, we have tried to reduce fees. We have taken specific action in two areas. Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the complex issue of excessive fees levied by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on securities transactions. It examines the history of these fees, tracing their evolution from user fees intended to cover the SEC's operational costs to a source of general tax revenue. The author analyzes the impact of these fees on the broader economy, arguing that they represent an unnecessary burden on capital, investors, and issuers. The book delves into the unintended consequences of these fees, demonstrating how they can hinder economic growth, discourage investment, and stifle innovation. The author presents a compelling case for reducing these fees, arguing that their current levels are excessive and detrimental to the overall health of the US capital markets. This book provides valuable insight into the hidden costs of government regulation and the need for a more equitable and efficient system of funding for the SEC.
