Excerpt from The Effect of Adding Spiral Reinforcing to Vertically Reinforced Concrete Columns: A Thesis
The purnose of these tests was to study the effect of adding spiral steel to longitudinally reinforced columns. Two columns were tested, onewith vertical reinforced steel, and the other reinforced with soiral and vertical steel. Both columns were made with a protective shell an inch thick on the outside of the steel. While this made it difficult to study the distribution of stress in the concrete and reinforcing steel, usefull information was obtained in regard to the behavior of this shell. The work on columne was done in the mechanical laboratory, the vertical reinforced column being made inside and the other or soirsl, outside. The cement, sand and stone tests were made in the cement laboratory and the different strength tests made in the laboratory of the main.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. In this book, the author explores the effects of adding spiral steel reinforcements to columns already reinforced with vertical steel. The author's meticulous research involved testing two columns, one with vertical steel reinforcement and the other with both vertical and spiral steel reinforcement. Both columns had protective shells on their exteriors, which provided valuable insights into the behavior of this protective layer. The author's rigorous testing process included analyzing the tensile strength of neat and mortar briquettes, conducting mechanical analysis of the sand and cement used, and determining the voids in the crushed stone and concrete. These detailed examinations led to significant findings about the effectiveness of spiral reinforcement in enhancing the strength and behavior of reinforced concrete columns. The author's observations provide valuable knowledge for professionals in the field of construction and engineering, particularly those interested in the design and reinforcement of concrete structures.
