Excerpt from On Relations Between the Color and the Composition and Constitution of the Alkali Salts of Nitrophenols: Comparison of the Metasulphaminebenzoic Acids Made by Different Methods
The alkali salts of the nitrophenols, so far as they have been made, show quite a Wlde variation in color and this difference of color has been studied by Carnelly and Alexander(1ln the case of the sodium and potassium salts of ortho and paranitrophenol. Since this work of Carnally and Alexander the subject has not been further investigated and in some cases, notably in the case of metanitrophenol, the number of salts is extremely small. In none of them has either the rubidium or caesium salt been made.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. Discover the fascinating investigation into the relationship between the composition and structure of alkali salts of nitrophenols and their distinctive colors and properties. This in-depth exploration builds upon the initial research of Carnelly and Alexander, expanding the study to include additional nitrophenols and alkali metals. The author provides a detailed account of the preparation, analysis, and characterization of these salts, offering valuable insights into their molecular structure and color variation. Beyond the exploration of these specific compounds, the book delves into the broader context of the chemistry of nitrophenols and the significance of their color properties. Through a combination of theoretical and experimental approaches, the author unveils the underlying principles that govern the color behavior of these compounds, contributing to a deeper understanding of the relationship between molecular structure and optical properties.
