The hearings centered around a proposal to acquire and demolish an existing parking garage and construct a new underground garage with a public park at street level on the site. The author provides a detailed account of the hearings, including the arguments presented by various stakeholders, the evidence submitted, and the Authority's final decision. The book also examines the broader context of urban renewal in Boston, and the BRA's role in shaping the city's development.
