This book is an extensive codebook designed for use by mining companies, mining engineers, stockbrokers, financial agents, and trust and finance companies. Its contents are intended to save time and expense for organizations and individuals alike. The author invited the co-operation of fellow mining engineers and others interested in collecting data with a view to compiling a more perfect and practical code. The result is a volume containing more than double the words of the Telegraphic Mining Code it is based on. As well as 600 more English words, new tables have been added relating to weights, assays, percentages, dates, and points of the compass, with each word carrying a check for safety.

The Code Words are alphabetical from beginning to end, thus avoiding the waste of time and the possibility of mistakes sometimes arising from not knowing at once where to look for a word.
