Excerpt from First Annual Report of the Receipts and Expenditures of the Town of Hyde Park: With Reports of the Selectmen and Other Town Officers, for the Year Ending February 15, 1869
Among the first duties required Of us was one to establish the lines between this and the adjoining towns. Your Board met the selectmen of Dorchester, Milton, and Dedham, for this pur pose, and desire to say that we had no difficulty in determining the lines between this and the two former towns, and have had monuments erected defining the angles of the line, and the crossings of the highways. We cannot report so favorably in regard to the line between us and the town of Dedham, - the selectmen Of that town placing a construction on the wording Of our charter which we do not choose to admit. We hope, how ever, to be able to come to an amicable adjustment of the matter before our term of Office expires.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book provides detailed accounts of expenditures and receipts made within the town of Hyde Park for the year ending February 15, 1869. It was published by the town's selectmen. The original book also contains reports from the school committee, and town officers. The selectmen's report discusses topics such as highway improvements, land valuation, street alterations, maintenance of the town bridge, guide board placement, the town map, street lighting, and the lockup. The report highlights the town's financial situation, property owned by the town, and the number of schools and school-aged children. Hyde Park was established in April of 1868, so many of the mentioned projects were part of the initial setup and organization of the town. The report also summarizes the number of births, deaths, marriages, and intentions of marriage that were registered in Hyde Park from May 6, 1868 to December 31, 1868. The volume concludes with a list of resident and non-resident tax-payers and the amount of taxes paid by each.
