Inhaltsangabe

Plunge into the Fifth Book of Thucydides and explore a period of growing tension after an extended truce.

This edition presents not only the account of the campaigns and intrigues that follow the truce, but also the analyses and notes that accompany the text, offering a clear view of the intentions and political contexts of the time.

What you will experience or understand by reading:

• An overview of the motivations and political choices during a period of fragile peace and the resumption of war.
• The description of the military campaigns and the turning points that influence the Greek balance of power.
• An introduction and explanatory notes that shed light on complex passages and historical speeches.
• A presentation of the historical framework and the moral issues that run through the narrative.

Ideal for readers who wish to place the unfolding of ancient Greek events in their political and cultural context, and for those who want a guided introduction with annotations to facilitate understanding.
