The ward-leonard system of turret control is capable of a wide range of speed, with very fine incre ments of variation. The turret turning speed is from degree per minute minimum to 100 degrees per minute maximum, between which there are about 70 variations and 'the turret can be started from rest and brought to full speed in 10 seconds and can be stopped in five seconds' time.
