Excerpt from The Chaplain, Vol. 19: A Journal for Protestant Chaplain; October, 1962
Valuable historical materials are preserved in the copies of the chaplain through the years. The journal began toward the close of a war that saw more than ten thousand chaplains in uniform. Since that time the military establishment has been of unprecedented size in our national life for a period other than war. The number of chaplains in active service has been correspondingly great. The full story never has been told.
In the immediate future the chaplain Will attempt to increase its usefulness by adding to its former and continued services an editorial commentary on new developments and opportunities among chaplains and the personnel to whom they minister.
