It should be said, of course, that there are certain obvious and significant similarities between chaplaincies. Under Whatever structure or relationship they operate, they seem to share much of the same purpose and spirit of concern in the care of souls, the ministry of word and sacrament and the recognition of the role of the chaplain as pastoral counselor and friend to the man in uniform.
