Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a comprehensive look at the Work Projects Administration (WPA), a major program created in 1935 during the Great Depression to combat widespread unemployment. The author provides a detailed examination of the WPAââ â¢s operations, including its primary goals, organizational structure, and the types of projects it undertook. The book explores the interplay between the WPA and broader economic conditions, demonstrating how the program expanded and contracted in response to fluctuations in unemployment. The author delves into the programââ â¢s effectiveness in providing jobs and improving public infrastructure, while also highlighting the complexities of managing a program of such scale during a period of great economic hardship. Through the lens of the WPA, this book offers a unique perspective on the challenges of social and economic change, underscoring the role government initiatives played in alleviating suffering and promoting recovery during one of the nationââ â¢s most trying periods.
