Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book puts forth a radical proposal: that the role of banker should move from private to public hands. The author produces a critique of the Bank of England in its failure to adequately respond to the financial crisis of 1825 and proposes several reforms. Firstly, that the government should control all issuance of paper currency, but more importantly, that the government should establish a network of publicly-owned banks to distribute loans to the economy. The author leaves no stone unturned in their critique of the Bank of England and demonstrates a deep understanding of monetary theory. Timely and insightful, this book argues persuasively for the benefits of a national banking system.
