This self-incapacitating of a liquid-oxygen explosive has its drawbacks, for it makes it imperative that the work of charging a hole be done rapidly. Even then, the miner must be sufficiently expert to place all his charges, connect the fuses or detonators, and reach a place of security within an interval of ten to fifteen minutes.
