Richmond is the seat of justice of Henrico county, and the capital of Virginia. It is located on the north east bank of the James River, at the lower falls, and at the head of tide-water. The distance from Rich mond to Washington, in an air-line, is one hundred miles. By railroad, it is one hundred and thirty miles from Washington, and One hundred and sixty-eight from Baltimore. The latitude of the capital is 37° 32' 17 north, and the longitude is 77° 27' 28 west.
