Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book tells the interwoven stories of two remarkable women, Rachel Browneld Searight-Stidger and her mother, Elizabeth Browneld, offering a glimpse into the lives of Scotch-Irish settlers in Western Pennsylvania during the early 19th century. The author traces their lineage back to the origin of the Society of Friends in the early 1600s and beyond into the same family of John Fisher, the Bishop of Rochester beheaded by Henry VIII. Through this family history and the women's personal experiences, the book sheds light on themes of faith, perseverance, and the changing landscape of America during a period of westward expansion and great social and technological advancements.
