Excerpt from History of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Harlan, Indiana; 1854, 1881, 1915: November 28, 1915
In 1854 the first church building was erected, just outside the town ol' Maysville. Near the old cemetery. This was a Frame structure, 21 by 40 feet and when its use was discontinued in 1882, it was sold to the Lutheran people, who afterwards sold it to private parties. This building is still in use as a storage room for (f. C. Diehl 8: Son, grocery merchants.
