Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book contains selected writings from the ninth manuscript volume of the Public Records of the Colony of Connecticut. The texts date from before 1761 and offer insights into the politics and society of the time. The volume contains the first four hundred and forty-six pages of the manuscript but lacks the Journal of the Governor and Council or that of either branch of the General Assembly for those years. Missing are payrolls for many of the Connecticut troops who served in the French and Indian War. Appended to the text are answers to Queries from the Board of Trade, 1761-2, obtained from the Public Record Office in London. The author laments that so many payrolls for the Connecticut troops who served in the French war are missing, as a result of which several officers who took the place of others receiving appointments from the General Assembly but for various reasons not joining the army, fail to gain mention in these pages. The author hopes that the volume will be of use to future historians and researchers.
