Excerpt from Plane and Spherical Trigonometry
Carefully selected exercises are given at the end of almost every article. In solving triangles, the natural functions are used where the solution may be obtained easily Without the aid of logarithms. This method has been followed because, where logarithms are used exclu sively, the student often does not know the meaning of the Operation he is performing. The subject of trigono metric equations, which is usually accorded little atten tion, is here given in a separate chapter, for it is thought that in no other way can the student acquire so good a knowledge of general principles or so great skill in applying the formulas.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book is an elementary text in trigonometry, a branch of mathematics that explores the relationships between the sides and angles of triangles. Beginning with the most basic trigonometric functions--sine, cosine, and tangent--the author methodically builds toward more sophisticated concepts like trigonometric equations and identities. The book assumes no prior knowledge of trigonometry and is written in a clear, accessible style, making it suitable for self-study or classroom instruction. Along with ample opportunities to practice problem-solving, the author includes helpful historical notes that place trigonometry within its broader context in the development of mathematics throughout the ages. Ultimately, this book provides readers with a solid foundation in trigonometry, enabling them to continue their studies in mathematics or apply trigonometry to solve problems in other fields.
