Excerpt from The Life of the Right Reverend Ernest Roland Wilberforce, First Bishop of Newcastle-on-Tyne and Afterward Bishop of Chichester
This Memoir has been undertaken at the request of Mrs. Ernest Wilberforce, who has not only placed at my disposal her late husband's correspondence and official papers so far as they have been preserved, but has rendered me invaluable assistance by way of suggestion and criticism throughout the preparation of the book. I have also to express my indebtedness to Mr. Reginald Wilberforce and to the Archdeacon of Westminster for reminiscences of their brother's early days at Oxford and at home.
