Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book details the history of ancient Israel during the formative period when Abraham and his family left their homeland to the time of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt. The book covers the era from around 1900 to 1250 BCE, drawing on the Bible and other historical sources. The author explores the historical and cultural aspects of the Patriarchs, the slavery of the Israelites in Egypt, and their escape, concluding that the deliverance was rooted in God's faithfulness to his covenant with Abraham. The account brings us up to the time of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt, and through the wilderness to the borders of the promised land. The author's approach is clearly balanced, using established historical sources to examine and unpack the biblical narrative, and also analyze the social, political, and theological themes within it. Overall, this book is an engrossing account of the historical and theological roots of the nation of Israel, the story of how the Israelites became a people with a unique covenant with God.
