Excerpt from The Old Clay Patch: A Collection of Verses Written in and Around Victoria (University) College, Wellington, N. Z
It is, however, our belief that some of the verses which have appeared during this first decade of the College - in the Spike and elsewhere - have a value which it were treason to forget. Many of the students of to - day have never heard of the Ode on the Laying of the Foundation Stone. To such we hope that these verses may be very welcome.
