Excerpt from Echinodermata Ophiuroidea

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the extensive research the author has conducted on the echinoderm fauna of the Antarctic sea floor, which provides new and exciting data on the biodiversity of the Southern Ocean. The author has analyzed over 37 species of brittle stars, including 19 new species collected by the Australian Antarctic Expedition of 1911-1914. The work builds on the foundational work of earlier expeditions, including the Belgica, Scotia, Nimrod, and Pourquoi Pas, which first discovered many of the unique echinoderm species found in Antarctica. This book adds significantly to our understanding of the diversity and distribution of brittle stars in the Southern Ocean, the evolutionary history of echinoderms, and the zoogeography of the Antarctic region.
