When the great Alfred was defeated and his army entirely dispersed, the cause of liberty was not overcome. After a time it again blazed forth, and having gathered strength, became irresistible: That God may equally bless the glorious cause of the Spanish patriots, is the prayer of our Country, and, we trust, will soon become that of suffering Europe.
